His blonde PA, who has her own designs on him and a jealous streak to match, sees where his attention is drifting and sets out to break up whatever is starting before it grows.

Day one: a temp, a PA and a boss who stops to look

Episode 1 opens in the PA's territory. She hovers at the boss's elbow, moving his four-thirty to four-fifteen and telling him he would be lost without her. Then she floats a client dinner for the two of them, wrapped in enough hedges that he can wave it off without a scene. Across the floor, Harriet is having her own first-morning panic. She looks at the polished staff, decides she does not measure up, and assumes the boss will not give her a second glance.

He does. He asks who she is, the PA answers that she started today, and he cuts off the dinner pitch to say Harriet is pretty. Welcomed to the team, Harriet fumbles a line about admiring the company, and he says he preferred her first answer. He waves away the nine o'clock meeting, the orientation and the paperwork, and says he will show her around himself. "I'll show you where the bodies are kept" is the last line. The PA is left holding the calendar.

The tour, the T-shirts and the gossip

Episode 2 cuts between a cupboard door and the people gossiping about it. Out in the office, the PA tries to talk herself out of worry: he is only showing the temp where things are kept, Harriet is not his type, and he would not actually do anything. She says it twice, and it sounds thinner the second time. Colleagues nearby are less generous, trading remarks about how long the induction is taking and how keen the new hire must be.

Inside, the boss is handing Harriet company T-shirts and hoodies, the kind worn at conferences and charity days. He says he will be a gentleman and leaves the door within reach while she tries one. She steps out and asks whether it comes in black, since cameras add pounds, then realizes the word she just used was a swear, aimed at her new boss with the morning barely begun. He tells her the look works on her. She asks which he means, the white shirt or the swearing. "Both, actually."
